Because of the size of your luggage, it will not fit into the overhead racks or the space between back to back seats. I had a bad luggage experience with intercity trains in Netherlands, with the same luggage.Īny insight from actual observations and experience will be appreciated. But I don't want to show up at the train station with a luggage that I have no place to store.

I also read the great Seat61 website which says that I should not over think the luggage problem in Italy. I also read that there may be some storage shelves on some trains, but how can I find out whether the particular train I will take has that? Is there some web resources that I can look up a particular train? That may not work for me due to size and weight. I read that most luggage can be store above the passenger seats. I am wondering whether I will encounter issue with a hard side roller baggage that is about 30 inches high (The Samsonite S'cure 28") But I am not sure what is the maximum size luggage without creating storage issuse on the train. I have done some research and know that in general I am allowed to bring on board luggages as long as I can carry them. I plan to use trains to travel between Venice, Milan, and Tirano. So I want to post it here as well, as it relates to travel to and from Milan by train. Hi, I posted this question in the Italy forum, then realize it does not show up in the Milan forum.
